Project Background

  • We worked 1:1 with Zen's Founder and CTO to redesign the Zen ergonomic desktop software, which helps employees improve their posture at work with exercises and reminders. The new design aims to provide a more personalized and consistent user experience by using Spectrum, Adobe's design system.
  • The existing product design can be improved with a more cohesive design system, strategic data visualization components, and enhanced features for optimized and custom care.
  • The bar charts in the existing design may not be the most effective way to display posture data.

Job to be Done

  • Make improving daily posture health an easy experience with personalized dashboard features.

Functional Criteria

  • Integrate posture health exercises and consultations seamlessly into the work day.

Emotional Criteria (Personal)

  • Improve posture health for a more productive work experience.

Emotional Criteria (Social)

  • Show up for teammates with increased energy and improved presence during meetings.

Current State

  • Branded desktop app with limited personalization features.

Future State

  • Cohesive desktop app design with new features for custom posture care and improvement.

New UX Design Features

  • Positional heat maps are a better choice for showing the distribution of leaning behavior across a two-dimensional space.
  • Donut charts are most ideal for comparing proportions of a whole.
  • A counter would be a more appropriate element design for users to get a quick glance at their progress.
  • The new Posture Point Adjuster allows users to indicate areas they're feeling pain or pleasure.
  • Users can report posture points of pleasure to provide well-rounded insight into their state of posture health.

Results

  • The redesign aims to provide a more personalized and consistent user experience by using Spectrum, Adobe's design system, and new features for custom posture care and improvement. The new design will improve the existing product design with a more cohesive design system, strategic data visualization components, and enhanced features for optimized and custom care. The redesign will also provide users with a better way to visualize their posture data and progress, and new features to provide well-rounded insight into their state of posture health.
